My Little Garden

Here are some pictures of my 5'x5' little garden I made about a year ago. There was a lemon tree originaly when we moved in. Because of its size, we were wondering how big the roots were. We didn't think the roots of the fruit tree can get big enough to destroy the foundation of the house, but just to be safe, we decided to cut down the tree and planted a new life. A year later, the most of the flowers are blooming nicely and spreading wildly. Yes! the spring is almost here~!

Before

After

1. Gaura Lindheimeri, 2.Mexican Heather 3. Bronze Beauty BUGLEWEED, 4. Cascade CENTRADENIA, 5. Zonal Zeranium, 6. Blue Brachyscom, 7. Fern Asparagus, 8. Tuxido, 9. Varigated Duranta

About a year later...

Flower Arrangement

I got this beautiful wall vases from my mother-in-low, Mimi, on last Christmas. I displayed them each side of the Tuscan wood plaque in the dining room. I went to Michaels to get some artificial flowers. I looked up a basic technique of flower arrangements on the Internet to get some ideas. I made a little bouquet flower shown below. Since there are a lot of warm color in the dining room, I picked out a light blue ribbon as an accent color to balance out. It was a perfect in-home project for rainy Saturday. I really enjoyed doing it! We will have a lot of flowers blooming in our backyard soon. I sure will enjoy my new pretty vases to decorate with those flowers too! Now, I have my favorite focal point in our house! Thank you so much Mimi;)

After

Bambi! Bambi!

It all started with this Bambi poster. I am now trying to change all the decoration of my daughter's room. Every time she sees Bambi on TV, she screams with excitement so I thought this will make her happy. I got this pretty vintage look poster at ebay for about $7. When I put it on the wall, she had a big smile on her face. I think she loves it;) I am looking for a fabric to go with this green room. Maybe a sheer white fabric for the curtain. I might add some extra colorful fabric on the bottom of it. I need a book shelf, a desk, a head board for the bed. And...a storage! She has tons of toys everyroom in the house. (Lucky her!) When I was a little girl, I had a few toys to play at home. It's different nowadays I guess...Anyway, she has a queen size bed right now. It is way over-sized for her room. I might have to replace it to a little kid's bed... I don't know how it is going to turn out now, but I hope she is going to like her new room when I complete it! (fingers crossed)

Before

After

The Bench

I bought a new dining table last year. The table was selling as a matching set with 6 chairs, but I only bought the table because I wanted something different for chairs. Since then, I started collecting the chairs. So far, I have two ladder chairs, and my queen chair. Instead of having two separate chairs for the opposite to those two ladder chairs, I chose to have a bench. I found this unfinished bench at CSN stores. This one, luckily, happened to be the perfect size for the table. I was excited to put my personal touch to it. I used the same paint and fabric to match the other chairs. Now, the last chair I need is...The king chair! (for my husband:)

Before

Quick fix

I bought this light at Home Goods. I like it a lot. But I thought something was missing. I had a yard of green ribbon, so I put it around the shade. Wow, I makes it so much different!

We have a lot of guests in our backyard everyday. This little cute guy. Look how pretty he is! He became my inspiration;) I love his color! I found this 5x5 pretty art at Art.com. I framed it, and filled the wall.

My Japanese Brush that is made from...

Today is my happy day. I got this Japanese calligraphy brush from my family in Japan. This is soooo special for us because this brush is made from my daughter's hair! I did her first hair cut right after her second Birthday. I sent it to my parents', and my sister arranged every thing to make it happen. (Thank you so much, my sister!) I almost started crying when I opened the box. A lot of sweet memories came back to my mind. It is nice to have something like this. I have a little piece of my baby in my hands forever! I love the culture in Japan... Makes me wonder when I can go back there.

and of course, I am wondering where I can decorate this one of kinds curly brush...

My Queen Chair re-do

This beautiful chair, I call "the Queen chair", was found at the same store where I bought the ladder chairs. This time, It was not easy to work with. First of all, too many nails. To make matters worse, they were attached deeply in the wood. Even my handy-husband couldn't take them off. I ended up put the fabric without changing the form. Now I regret I did that because it is not comfortable to sit on. I had no energy to re-do it;( Maybe I can do it someday... I love how it looks though.

Before

After

The Stool re-do

I got this stool at Target a long time ago. I thought I can use this as piano chair temporally until I find something I really like. The problem was I couldn't find the cushion that came with it. I had some left over fabric from previous project, so I decided using it. (Yes! I saved some dollars;) I put studs around the chair for fun. It was another fun project.

がっ 今思うと別に付けなくてもよかったように思います^^;

My Favorite Interior Designer

I love her! Let me introduce one of the most talented Interior designer/stylist, Emily Henderson. She won the TV show called "Design Star" on HGTV. The color pallet in those pictures below are incredible. The color "blue" has never been so beautiful in my sight... She is a magician, indeed. Her show called "Secrets from a Stylist" premiers on Feb 26 that 8:00PM. I can't wait to watch her show!

Emily Hendarson

The Ladderback Chair re-do

I bought these ladder back chairs at one of my favorite furniture stores in San Diego. $60 for two. Another DIY project for me;) I chose this fabric below in the picture. I like the pattern because it has the kind of... the same curves as the ladder part on the chair. I think it is fun! Anyway...my husband helped me to fix some of the crack on the wood parts. I couldn't find any paint I like from the sample, so I made the color by mixing up with some of the paint I had in the garage. The sheen was flat, so I brought it to Home Depot and had them make the Hi-gross version of it. They do great matching the color. I inserted the brand new form and put the fabric on it. Finally, put them back all together. I can do this again, again, and again. I think I am officially addicted to cute chairs;)

Fabricguru.comでゲットしました。

The Cane Chair re-do

I found this cane chair at a thrift store. It was priced $40, but since it was Labor day weekend that day, all the furniture was 50% off. Included tax, it was only $20. (Lucky me!) I just love this look. The estimate for reupholstering was $250 by pro (excluding fabric). It was over my budget, so I decided to do it by myself. I wanted this chair to be simple, yet fun. So...I used Brown faux leather for the back part, and beige suede for the sitting part. The color is neutral, I think it goes any color of the decor in my house. It cost me $90 total, and I am happy with the result;)

Thrift Store
